Track of the Day: “Stared at the Sun” by The Shabbab

What I like about THE SHABBAB is that I’m instantly reminded of early BOB DYLAN with a mix of that punk rock sound THE CLASH introduced into the world. The boys just released the video below for “Stared at the Sun” from their self titled EP. THE SHABBAB is Shuki Rosenboim (vocals/percussion), Said Choucair (Guitar/backing vocals), Vito Lucarelli (bass/organ/backing vocals) and Constantine Stefanou (drums) and you can download and stream The Shabbab EP from Bandcamp. Drag Monday: “Stuck on You” by Manila Luzon

First, I love me some MANILA LUZON. She is absolutely hysterical and her facial expressions are some of the best in the business. She gifts us this wickedly sexy video for her song “STUCK ON YOU” from her album ETERNAL QUEEN and it’s such a great video that shows the ups and downs of a relationship and a long distant one at that. And when I heard one of the most infectious lyrics: “fuck me like a melody” I shouted out “bloody brilliant!” MANILA LUZON: Facebook | Twitter | Website | Buy “Eternal Queen” on iTunes Previous posts on Manila Luzon Continue reading Drag Monday: “Stuck on You” by Manila Luzon

Track of the Day: “Quantum” by Heiress to Atlas

VIDYA SETHU and MARC THOMAS teamed up via Craigslist two weeks before Vidya was planning to leave L.A and viola, HEIRESS TO ATLAS was born. “In awe of the improbabilities that aligned their pasts, the duo began to build their future on what their combination inspires; a bold electro fusion sound that they call renegade synthpop.” If you listen to the lyrics, you can hear the inspiration of their story within the song. What we like about the song is how the rawness of the beats compliment Vidya’s voice. The duo is playing a handful of dates and you can … Continue reading Track of the Day: “Quantum” by Heiress to Atlas

The Best Show On TV – Justified Episode Recap

Justified is such a fantastic show it gives me faith, not only in networks to produce quality programming, but writers to create smart, funny, unique and flawed characters.  Justified premiered in 2010 and this week aired the first of its last season.  I am beyond devastated.  Before I give you the recap, let me introduce you to the key players so you have an idea of who and why I care. Deputy Marshall Raylan Givens is the show’s “Hero”.  When we meet him, he has just been banished to his home town of Harlan, Kentucky, the consequence of a “bad shoot” … Continue reading The Best Show On TV – Justified Episode Recap

Eargasm of the Week: “Play It Right (Wye Oak Remix)” by Sylvan Esso

I had the extreme pleasure seeing this dynamic duo from Durham, NC live last week and I must say I was completely blown away by their performance. If I’m being completely honest, they easily landed in the top 5 performances I have seen live. It’s very magical to watch two people not only connect with each other but with a sold out audience too. When you watch SYLVAN ESSO, don’t expect a full band either. It’s just Amelia and Nicholas and a lap top and it is a beautiful ménage à trois. Since we’re still riding the concert high a week later, we … Continue reading Eargasm of the Week: “Play It Right (Wye Oak Remix)” by Sylvan Esso
